Laminated packaging foil - with plastics core and bilateral aluminium foil coating

A laminated foil for use as packaging material consists of one or more central plastic layers of PVC or other plastic materials which is lined on both sides with aluminium foil. The plastic foil has a thickness of 50-200 mu and the aluminium foil of 20-60 microns. At least one of the aluminium foils is coated with another biaxially stretched plastic foil of 10-40 mu thickness, such as oriented polypropylene, to improve the elongation. The outer layer can carry a lining of good hot sealing capacity. The foil is easy to sterilise and is more rigid for the same wall thickness. It is compatible with food and forms a good seal.
