<p>As shown in Fig. 2A the back surface (110B) of the diaphragm (110) of a loudspeaker (100) exhibiting relatively small excursions at midrange frequencies is substantially surrounded by a housing (140) including an acoustic filter (150, 152) therein for attenuating high frequency components of the acoustic signal radiating from the back surface (110B) of the diaphragm (110). The remaining midrange components of the acoustic signal radiating from the back surface (110B) of the diaphragm (110) are phase-delayed and redirected through at least one port (145) in the housing (140) such that the remaining midrange components of the acoustic signal radiating from the back surface (110B) of the diaphragm (110) join the midrange components of the acoustic signal radiating from the front surface (110A) of the diaphragm (110) substantially in phase therewith. The response of the loudspeaker (100) to midrange signals is thus enhanced. </p> |
