<p>The heat storage device consists of a tube (1) which has more than half of its interior filled with water. Down the middle is a vertical channel (3) extending from top to bottom with its upper part containing water (4), level with the empty space (2) above the main body of water. At the top of the channel are pressure equalising holes so that it is never completely filled. Ice cannot form inside this channel, although the whole device is used in an ice-formation process for heat extraction, in which it is embedded underground.</p> |
