<p>Metabolism of cell and bacteria cultures, esp. in the prodn. of interferon and other antibodies, is stimulated by exposing the culture to low-frequency magneto dynamic fields with frequencies of under 100 Hz (10 Hz). The field can be an a.c. or a pulsating d.c. field with a max. flux density of 0.2 tesla (0.02 tesla) and a gradient of at least 0.01 tesla/cm in one part of the culture. This has been found to intensify the metabolism, specially as regards oxygen, and to amplify the oxidative phosphorylation to ATP on the mitochondrial inner membranes of the cells.</p> |
