摘要 A piston (42) is slidably telescoped into an elevational cylinder (41). This piston (42) has a piston rod (52) projected upwardly out of a casing (20) for surrounding the cylinder (41). The casing (20) is so formed as to communicate the upper space of the piston with the lower space of the piston through an annular space for surrounding the outside of the cylinder (41). Alcohol, ammonia water, paraffinic oil or benzene is filled as a working substance whose volume varies according to the temperature change in the annular space and the internal space in the cylinder. The upper casing portion (20A) is cooled with water passing through a coolant water passage (26). The lower casing portion (20B) is heated by a heater (80). An output displacing member (64) is slidably provided around the piston rod (52) to protrude into the space in the cylinder. The piston rod (52) and the output displacing member (64) are connected through a crank mechanism (16) to an output shaft (11). When the piston (42) is elevationally moved in the cylinder, the working substance is elevationally moved in the annular space, and thus alternatively cooled and heated by a cooling unit (32) and a heating unit (34) respectively. Upward force is applied to the pressure receiving surface (63) of the output displacing member (64) due to the pressure increase in the working substance when the substance is heated to be expanded, to thereby produce the rotary driving force of the output shaft (11).
