A motor and spindle assembly for rotating a video disc (2) in a video disc player is characterised by means for accurately centering the disc when it is placed on the spindle by a conical centering means (96) which is spring biased vertically and is engaged by the descending disc at a point (100) on the conical surface depending upon the radius of the central hole in the disc, and is then pushed downwards against the spring (91) until it is correctly located on the spindle and is clamped in position by a clamp (6).
