Title compds. (I; R1, R2, R3 = H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, halogen, cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, hydroxy; R4 = 5-tetrazolyl), useful as anti-allergics, were prepared by the reaction of compd. II and alkali metal azide. Thus, 10 ml triethylene glycol dimethylether soln. contg. 8.3 g 2-chloro-5-cyanopyridine, 1304 g 5-methoxyanthranylic acid and 0.2 g potassium iodide was reacted in Ar gas at 170≦̸C for 4 hr to give 6.02 g 8-cyano-2-methoxy-11-oxo-11H-pyrido[2,1-b quinazoline.
