PURPOSE:To continuously use a card by providing a preliminary memory area to be able to store discrimination data to a memory means of an IC card, etc., and when the discrimination data cannot be re-written due to the cell effective, writing the discrimination data into the preliminary memory area. CONSTITUTION:In a data memory 12 of an IC card, an individual reference data memory area Ep composed of a control block CB of one byte to store the control information and individual reference data Dp and a preliminary memory area Ea of the same constitution as the individual reference data memory area Ep are provided. When the individual reference data are not re-written due to the cell defective, the MSB of the CB of the area Ep is re-written to '0', made into the invalid area, the individual reference data Dp are written into the preliminary memory area Ea and '1' is entered to the MSB of the CB. |
