摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable cold start of a combustion apparatus by preheating simply and quickly a catalyst made of a dielectric substance, arranged in a passage of gaseous fuel, by high-frequency electric waves in the initial stage. CONSTITUTION:The catalysts 5 and 6, arranged in a passage 2 of gaseous fuel, are dielectrics made of ceramic materials in the shape of honeycomb, mainly consisting of zirconium silicate, to which metallic oxide such as iron oxide is impregnated. The catalysts are heated by allowing to absorb high-frequency electric waves. When a high-frequency oscillator 9 is driven associated with the fuel gas and the air fed in, the catalysts 5 and 6 are heated within a short time to display their catalytic function to burn the fuel gas and the air catalytically. Since the catalysts 5 and 6 are heated up to a proper temperature capable of exhibiting their catalytic functions continuously by the initial ignition, the high-frequency oscillator 9 is enough to be driven only at the first time of operation. As a result, the catalysts can be easily and promptly preheated to enable the combustion apparatus to start at low temperature.</p>
