<p>The crop lying on the soil is picked up by a rotary drum and thrust into the body of the trailer by a row of tines hinging in the chassis under the action of a connecting rod so that their tips describe an elliptical path. In front of the drum is a guide for the crop (42), so mounted on the chassis that it can move up and down, and running parallel, for part of its length, to the path described by the drum tines (19). The front of the guide can be bent upwards, and it can hinge by means of arms on the chassis. Between the guide and the chassis and clear of the hinge point is a flexible link (44).
