PURPOSE:To prevent transmission loss and characteristic degradation by disposing >=1 pieces of optical fiber cores into a pipe consisting of plastics or metal or composite material of both materials, filling jelly in the voids in the pipe, and applying sheathing on the circumference of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of optical fiber cores 2 are put into a pipe 5 consisting of plastics or metal or composite material of both materials, and jelly is put into the clearances, after which sheathing 4 is applied. The cable obtained in this way is used for an interior wire or the like requiring not so much tension. Or the cable made by disposing a plurality of those consisting of putting jelly 3 around one piece of the cores 2 and covering each piece with the pipe 5 or those consisting of putting the above-described plural cores 2 in the pipe 5 and filling the jelly 3 therein around a tension member and coating the same with the sheathing 4 is used for application of large tension or at the laying for a long section. Thereby, the transmission loss and characteristic degradation owing to the bending caused in the cores 1 by the squeezing effect developed during cable production and laying are prevented. |
