The invention relates to a device for the liquid application and distribution of a layer of a material to solid articles, in particular a protective layer comprising an aqueous suspension of a polymer, to cheese. It is intended, in a simple device, to apply the layer in large-scale production and distribute it very well. The articles are disposed on a conveyor and spreading elements are located above the conveyor and rotate about horizontal axes. The device is particularly characterised in that there are two horizontal shafts with spreading elements, one of which, seen from above, forms an angle of less than 60 DEG with the advance direction of the conveyor and the other of which forms an angle of at least 60 DEG , measured in a horizontal surface, with the first shaft. A plurality of such shafts may be provided. The speed of the shafts may be regulated in dependence on the viscosity of the material to be applied. |
