PURPOSE:To simultaneously and efficiently remove plated layers from the sides of numerous circular ceramic units, by grinding the ceramic units in a pipe which rotates and revolves. CONSTITUTION:Pipes 1 whose insides are provided with polishing surfaces made of sandpaper or the like are rotatably supported by bearings 6 on a plurality of rotary discs 5 secured on a driving shaft 4. The pipes 1 are rotated by a motor 9 through a belt 7 wound around the pipes. The shaft 4 is actuated by a motor 15. The inside diameter of the pipes 1 is preferably set at about 1.25 times of the outside diameter of ceramic units 18 to be ground. After the pipes 1 are filled with the ceramic units 18, the ends of the pipes are sealed with caps 17. The pipes 1 are rotated and revolved so that the ceramic units 18 are pushed on the inside grinding surfaces of the pipes by centrifugal force due to the revolution and are caused to perform relative movement by the rotation. The ceramic units 18 are thus ground. |
