PURPOSE:To prepare cosmetic having high ultraviolet-protecting activity and giving excellent feeling and finishing to the hair and skin, by compounding a cationized cellulose containing a specific amount of quaternary nitrogen atom having benzyl or cinnamyl group, as an ultraviolet-protecting agent. CONSTITUTION:A hair conditioner or a skin conditioner is compounded with an ultraviolet-protecting agent comprising a cationinzed cellulose containing 0.2-3wt% of quaternary nitrogen atom having benzyl or cinnamyl group and represented pref. by the formula I (at least one of R1-R3 is group of formula II and the others are H; m, n and q are integer 1-10; p is 1, 2 or 3; R4-R6 are H or CH3; R7 is 1-3C alkyl; R8 is benzyl or cinnamyl; X is anion such as Cl, SO4, etc.; l is 50-2,000). Since the ultraviolet-protecting agent has excellent solubility in water, and high affinity (adsorptivity) to the skin and hair, the cosmetic containing the agent gives excellent feeling and finishing to the skin, etc., and exhibits remarkable ultraviolet- protecting effect. |
