PURPOSE:To make the pressure applied to the assembled element of each cell constant so as to prevent any separation of a active anode material, by placing sacklike bodies made of an elastic material in the spaces between the assembled elements and the inner walls of a container, and admitting air into the sacklike bodies by means of pressure before the bodies are hermetically sealed. CONSTITUTION:Sacklike bodies 4 made of an elastic material are placed in the spaces between assembled elements installed in a container 1, and partition walls 3 of the container 1. Air 6 is admitted into the bodies 4 by using pressure from the sealing parts of the bodies 4 so as to make a given pressure to be applied to the assembled elements, and the sealing parts are hermetically sealed afterward. Owing to the above constitution, the bodies 4 can have a function as a spacer, and can compensate the variations in the thickness of plates and separators, thereby the pressure applied to the assembled elements 2 can be equalized. Consequently, the life of a storage battery can be extended by preventing any separation of the active anode material of only given cells. |
