PURPOSE:To increase a read rate by improving the efficiency of utilization of a dictionary by using the dictionary in common when optical character readers are used in combination. CONSTITUTION:A read system is equipped with optical character readers 13 controlled by a controller 11 connected to a common dictionary 12. Those readers 13 each have a rewritable dictionary memory 17, a photoelectric conversion part 18 for character patterns, a recognizing circuit 19 for character patterns photoelectrically converted according to the storage contents of the dictionary memory 17, and a circuit 20 transferring recognition results to a controller 11. Then, the controller 11 writes part of the contents stored in the common dictionary 12 in the dictionary memory 17 to reject or correct the recognition results from the transferring circuit 20. |
