PURPOSE:To raise gripping force of a welt by bonding a core bar and a rubber material together with using a binding agent. CONSTITUTION:When a core bar 3 and a rubber material 4 are bonded together with a binding agent 7 such as, for example, a rubber-based, rubber vulcanizing binding agent, the core bar 3 is firstly formed in a core bar forming station 11, and the binding agent 7 is applied to both surfaces 3a, 3b of the core bar 3 in a binding agent applying station 12. The core bar 3 is secondly covered with an unvulcanized rubber material 4a in a rubber applying station 13 and then, in a vulcanizing and forming station 14, the resulted member is heated and vulcanized in a furnance 18 so as to be formed, while the core bar 3 and the rubber material 4 are bonded together, thereby to form a welt material 6a which is then bent, in a bending station 15, so as to shape a weather strip 10 having a welt 6. With this process, the hardness of the root 2c of a gripping lip 2c is maintained constant, since the rubber material 4 does never peel off from the core bar 3, even though the positions of the core bars are dispersed. |
