PURPOSE:To effectively absorb a shock for the driver, by forming an easily broken destructive part in a shield plate for a vehicle at its collision or the like when the driver is hit against a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION:A shield plate P, for the inside of an instrument panel 1 not visible through a gap between a shell cover 3 and the panel 1, is provided around a steering column 2, then a destructive part S is formed to the shield pate P. In the destructive part S, slits 5 are continuously formed with a desired interval apart from the periphery of the shell cover 3 to the outside. At collision of a vehicle when the driver is hit on his breast hardly against a steering wheel 4, the shell cover 3 smashes into the shield plate P to brake through the destructive part S. In this way, reaction force of the wheel 4 can be reduced to absorb impact force applied to the breast of the driver. |
