<p>A steam smoothing-iron has a removable water reservoir above the sole which contains an adjustable valve permitting the feed rate of water to the steam chamber to be varied to suit the required steam production. The valve is controlled by a dial which also lowers or raises a tube surrounding the valve assembly, whereby a sealed connection is made between the reservoir and the steam chamber when the water feed valve is opened, and conversely, ensures that the valve is closed before the connection is broken to remove the reservoir for re-filling.</p> |
