Core powder for welding electrode - contains rutile, fluorite, sodium fluorosilicate, ferroalloys, chromium, nickel and iron powder

A powder compsn. for core-filled wire electrodes, for gas shielded welding and deposition welding of steels, comprises (by wt.) 14-23% rutile concentrate, 7-12% fluorite concentrate, 2-6% sodium fluorosilicate, 6-10% ferromanganese, 1.5-4% ferrosilicon, 1-2.5% ferromolybdenum, 1-2.5% chromium, 4-9% nickel and 31-63.5% iron powder. The electrodes give a well shaped weld bead with a tough transition zone with the parent metal and give a weld metal with low oxygen and hydrogen contents (per 100 g weld metal) of 0.020-0.030 wt.% and 0.8-1.5 cc. resp., good hot and cold cracking resistance and high notch toughness at high and low temps.
