The dust separator consists of a vessel (3) with a gas inlet (1) and outlet (2). The centre of the vessel contains a filter (4) and a central core (5) which can produce a magnetic field in the filter. The core has a coil (7) carrying a current from the supply (13). The dusty gas passes through the passages (12) in the filter where the magnetic particles are held and the non magnetic particles are retained in the filter. The filters may also be assembled in parallel banks connected to a hopper.
