In a hydrostatic steering device for vehicles, especially waist-steered vehicles, the steering mechanism comprises a rotary piston mechanism 9 operating as foot pump 1, in which a toothed stator 5 is in working engagement with a toothed rotary piston in order to deliver hydraulic fluid to a steering motor 55. A regulating valve has two concentric slide valve elements 27, 28 supported so that they can rotate in relation to one another. In order to permit a division of the rotatable slide element independently of the division of the rotary piston, the working chamber of the foot pump is connected to two collecting ducts 38, 43, in which no division occurs. <IMAGE>
