1389437 Imidazobenzodiazepines UPJOHN CO 13 July 1972 [4 Aug 1971] 34138/74 Divided out of 1389434 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1,6 =H, C 1-3 alkyl; R 5 =Py, 2-pyrimidyl, furyl, pyrryl, thienyl, C 1-3 alkyl, C 2-3 alkenyl, C 5-7 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, R 8 R 9 Ph; R 3,4,8,9 =H, halogen, NO 2 , CN, NH 2 , CF 3 , C 1-3 alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl or alkanoylamino, di(C 1-3 alkyl) amino and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with mercuric acetate in a mixture of acetic and formic acids. The above compounds are sedatives, hypnotics, anticonvulsants, tranquilizers and muscle relaxants, and increase growth rate, feed efficiency and milk and egg production in livestock. They may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical and veterinary preparations and feed additives containing them in association with a carrier. |
