In the case of the briquetting machine according to the invention for pressing a bulk material, two briquetting rollers (2) are arranged downstream of two shearing rollers (3) which are provided on their outer surfaces with circumferentially and/or longitudinally extending cutting blades, are arranged at a predetermined distance from one another parallel to the briquetting rollers (2) and can be made to rotate in opposite directions to one another synchronously with the briquetting rollers (2), it being possible to cut a line of briquette material emerging from the briquetting rollers (2) into individual briquettes by means of the shearing rollers (3). In a modified embodiment, the distance between the shearing rollers (3) is selected in such a way that the line of briquette material is not severed and/or cut into individual briquettes as it passes between them but is merely notched by the shearing rollers (3). Furthermore, a briquette guide (4) is arranged downstream of the shearing rollers (3) and has in its turn arranged downstream of it a severing device (5) which is composed of a roller (5a) with radial beater arms (5b), which roller (5a) rotates in synchronism with the briquetting and shearing rollers (2 and 3 respectively), it being possible to cut off, at the notched points, individual briquettes from the line of briquette material emerging from the pair of shearing rollers. <IMAGE>
