Positioning system for workpieces - has workpieces moved across moving table by own inertia or centrifugal force

The system has each workpiece seated on a seat and resting against a stop in one of several stable orientations. Each workpiece is rotated or moved linearly into this stable orientation. Each workpiece is scanned by a sensor in its stable orientation. The scanned position of each workpiece is compared with stored orientation data. The seat rotates so that the workpieces move outwards under the action of centrifugal force. Alternatively, the seat may move linearly so that the workpieces move under the action of inertia. A combination of the two types of movement may be employed.
