The lock for a safety belt for motor vehicles, incorporates a push button for operating the lock (22) which secures an insertion tongue (11) onto the base-plate (12) of the lock. The locking-piece is guided by a U-shaped clamp (16) fixed to the base-plate. The free hooked ends (18) of the arms (17) of the U-shaped clamp (16) fit into holes (20) in the base plate.
