<p>The covering of steel strips on the edges, on the rail sides, and connection with rails by connecting-rods, running in the concrete and protruding beyond the strips, are provided for slabs of reinforced concrete flush with railway track. The slabs (1,3) are supported on an elastic bearing layer (13) fitted on the substructure (14). The protruding connecting-rods (8,9) are directly fastened to the adjacent length of rail (2) with hinge-type connectors (15). The layer can be made from a cast substance, setting like hard rubber. Springs may provide support for the rods, in the lengths of rail containing holes. Little or no movement is possible, relative to rails, while stress resulting from asymmetrical loading is minimised.</p> |
