Engine utilising natural energy - has flexible containers with material which expands on absorption of water and contracts on drying

A cylindrical pressure vessel (1) contains a working fluid (5). Elastic containers (2) are immersed in the fluid and filled with a material which expands on absorption of water and contracts when dried. The containers have connections (3) at each end to valves (4) by which water and air can be alternately passed through the containers and made to flow through the material in them. When water flows through the material it expands and forces the working fluid (5) out through a valve (6) to do useful work. When air flows through it the material contracts again and the working fluid returns into the cylinder.
