The proposed terminal unit increases the number of connector pins without increasing physical size. In achieving this end the space required for the interconnecting wiring supports is not diminished. A desirable, increase in the number of terminal pins is achieved by staggering the pin positions (5) in the connector housing. The shift of half a pitch between one row and the next maintains the distance between adjacent pins whilst permitting a reduction in spacing between rows. Up to 50% more terminals per unit area are achievable with the proposed modification. The housing also has a slot (8) through which the end of a flat or ribbon connecting cable can be brought. Additionally, there are access holes (7) near some of the pin positions for entering further cables. The edges of the housing can be provided with support slots (23) for cables.
