The holder (14) can be clamped to the carrier (11) of a bicycle to hold e.g. bottle crates or similar which have a base frame (12a) and a ledge (13) round its lower edge. The holder is in the form of a square metal tube with a shaped slot (22) to take the crate ledge (13). A clamp plate (15) set into the holder on a slide plate (18) carries claws (15a) at the front which grip the crate base (12a). A peg (16) fixed to the rear (15b) of the clamp plate (15) projects through the rear wall of the holder and carries a clamp lever (17) to lock the claw in place. This provides a simple inexpensive holder which is easily fixed yet provides a safe fixture for the container.
