The closed induction smelting and casting furnace has a smelting chamber (1) and a casting chamber (2), between which is arranged a partition wall (3) with an orifice (4) having a first conical surface (5). A first sealing body (6) is inserted into the first conical surface (5). Mounted exchangeably onto this first sealing body (6) from above in a gas-tight manner is an inductively heatable ceramic smelting crucible (15) provided with a closable bottom orifice (16). To achieve the object of obtaining the sealing effect even relative to a higher pressure difference than atmospheric pressure and in the event of a frequent exchange of the smelting crucible, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the first sealing body (6) be a rigid hollow body made of mineral material, which is inserted, by means of a complementary ground second conical surface (7), into the likewise ground first conical surface (5) of the orifice (4). Furthermore, the smelting crucible (15) is mounted onto the first rigid sealing body (6), with a second sealing body (14) being interposed. The second sealing body (14) is elastically more flexible than the first sealing body (6). <IMAGE>
