The invention relates to a device for supporting the neck of a work roll in a stretch levelling machine for metal strip, in which the free end of the work roll neck is supported by the thrust or abutment surface of a mount via a hollow-cylindrical sleeve which is mounted via thrust and radial ball bearings on the work roll neck, characterised specifically in that one end of the sleeve (8a) is fitted coaxially on the neck of the work roll (2) in a manner which allows it to be removed from the said neck, in that a thrust bearing spindle (12) extends coaxially through the sleeve (8a) and is supported in two radial ball bearings (5, 5) which are arranged at an axial spacing from one another within the sleeve (8a), the outer end of the thrust bearing spindle (12) projecting beyond the outer end of the sleeve (8a), in that the inner end of the thrust bearing spindle (12) is supported on a thrust ball bearing (6) fixed in the sleeve (8a), in that a preloading compression spring (14) is arranged in the sleeve (8a), the said compression spring pressing the thrust bearing spindle (12) against the thrust ball bearing (6), and in that the outer end of the thrust bearing spindle (12) is supported against the thrust or abutment surface (10) of the mount (11). <IMAGE> |
