The arrangement is intended for a belt conveyor having a horizontal portion with a transition to an upwards inclined portion. The belt is supported on a number of support rollers. A rotatable pressure cylinder rests on the upper surface of the belt at the transition point and is weighted to hold the belt in contact with its support rollers. The cylinder is vertically movable, e.g. by having its shaft carried by a swivel lever, and the weights are secured to this lever. The vertical movement enables the transported material on the belt to pass the transition point.
