The actual indicator is a self-righting float (2) with a bell (6) or other acoustic body. The bell is suspended on the upper section (3) of the float which projects out of the fluid level when the float is upright but is near a stop (5) so that when boiling causes the water to bubble and upset the float the bell tilts to strike the stop thus producing a ringing sound. This bell indicator can now be used in existing kettles, saucepans, water heaters etc. The ringing sound becomes more intensive as the water boils more rapidly.
