PURPOSE:To automatically execute the ranking in a set unit which is constituted of a lot of symbols, and to easily generate a discrimination symbol, by using a result of ranking of a feature by a comparing circuit, as a read-out address to a memory in which the ranking of a feature has been stored in advance. CONSTITUTION:A symbol set input which is constituted of a symbol is inputted to each operating circuit 1-5, and in each operating circuit 1-5, the number of black in a prescribed mesh to the set is made a feature, and stable coefficients lambdaF1-lambdaF5 to features F1-F5 are calculated, respectively. These stable coefficients lambdaF1-lambdaF5 are inputted to a rank deciding circuit 11 in parallel from counters 6-10. Each stable coefficient lambdaF1-lambdaF5 which has been inputted to this circuit 11 is compared by a comparator in the circuit 11, and the stable coefficients lambdaF1-lambdaF5 are ranked and outputted. A result which has been compared by the comparator is used as a read- out address to an ROM in which the ranking of a feature has been stored in advance, and the ranking in the set unit which is constituted of a lot of symbols is executed automatically and easily. |
