PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal loss of a power converter by controlling to open or close a switching element when the current of a charging circuit and a discharging circuit becomes approximately zero at the charging or discharging time to convert the electric power. CONSTITUTION:When a control signal is applied to a switching element 2 to conduct the element, a charging current will flow to a capacitor 5 through the primary coil of a transformer 4. When the terminal voltage of the capacitor 5 is raised so that the voltage value reaches approximately the voltage of the DC power source 1, the charging current will not almost flow. Thereafter, the switching element 2 stopped. Since only the saturated voltage is generated at the switching element in the conducted state, the loss is, even if large current flows, reduced, and since the current is nearly equal to zero in the stopping process, the switching loss is, even if the voltage is raised during the inclining time, not almost generated. |
