NEW MATERIAL:A cyclic imino acid shown by the formula I (n is 2 or 3). Colorless needlelike crystal; browning and decomposing gradually at >=160 deg.C, not melting, soluble in water, slightly soluble in organic solvents; color reaction, positive in ninhydrin reaction, Rydon and Smith reaction, and tetrazolium reaction; decoloring potassium permanganate. EXAMPLE:5-cyanophlorin shown by the formula II. USE:A substance capable of inhibiting mutation of bacteria, and preventive for carcinogenicity. (Preventing the tumorigenesis of chick fetal fibroblast caused by chick inner tumor). PROCESS:''Favolus brasiliensis''(Fr.)Fr. K2013 (FERM-P5458), cyclic imino acid producing bacterium belonging to the genus ''Favolus'', is cultivated aerobically and a compound shown by the formula I is collected from the culture. |
