<p>1520991 Pharmaceutical compositions containing aluminium polyhydroxy sulphate DR MADAUS & CO 20 Feb 1976 [12 March 1975] 6769/76 Heading A5B [Also in Division C1] A composition for treating urinary calculi comprises as active ingredient Al 7 (OH) 17 (SO 4 ) 2 . nH 2 O in which n is 10-15 preferably 12. The compound has a phosphate binding capacity of 260-300 mg. PO 4 /g of dry substance and prevents phosphate containing concretions from further growth or causes them to break down or be excreted. The composition may be administered as a powder, tablets or a gel. Example 2 relates to a powder composition comprising 40% of the sulphate dodecahydrate, 32.9% sorbitol, 27% sacchorose and 0.1% aroma. Example 3 relates to tablets comprising 400 parts of the sulphate dodecahydrate, 100 parts lactose, 85 parts starch, 10 parts polyvinylpyrrolidone and 5 parts magnesium stearate. Example 4 relates to a gel comprising 10% of the sulphate dodecahydrate, 1.45% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, 1.4% glycerol, 0.2 ethyl p-hydroxy benzoate, 0.01% sodium saccharine and balance demineralised water.</p> |
