PURPOSE:To obtain a low-loss, small-sized and high-precision optical distributor by coupling input-side and output-side optical fibers, whose ends are made circularly conic, with both the circularly conic ends of an interposing optical repeating rod so that both the kinds of optical fibers face to each other. CONSTITUTION:Both ends 14 and 15 of an optical repeating rod 13 are made circularly conic by chemical etching, etc.; and input-side optical fibers 11 and 12, and output-side optical fibers 16-19 whose ends are also made circularly conic are arranged adjacently at both the ends of the rod, and the coupling part is covered with glycerol, etc., having refractivity similar to those of core parts 11a, 12a, 16a- 19a, and 13a at the ends. Light traveling in the input-side optical fibers 11 and 12 is made incident to the optical repeating rod 13 and then emitted from the output-side optical fibers 16-19 (18 and 19; not shown in figure). Thus, a low-loss, small-sized and high-reliability optical distributor is obtained. |
