<p>1523421 Camera and flash combination WEST ELECTRIC CO Ltd 14 March 1977 [17 March 1976] 10672/77 Heading G2A A camera and electronic flash combination has a switch 11 which is closed upon depression of a shutter release 2 to connect the flash capacitor 23 to its battery 17, and means controlled by a light sensing circuit 13 and operative when the sensed light is low to hold the switch 11 closed until the capacitor 23 is charged. As shown, depressing release 2 causes depression of a member 4 to close switch 11. If the sensed light is low, then light sensing circuit 13 turns on an SCR15 to energize an electromagnet 16. This locks member 4 thereby keeping switch 11 closed and also preventing further movement of release 2. When the capacitor 23 is charged it turns on a tube 29 and a transistor 30. This shorts the electromagnet 16 to allow release 2 to be depressed further and operate the shutter. The flash is fired by closing a synch contact 32. If the sensed brightness is high, movement of release 2 is unhindered. Also in this case, the light sensing circuit 13 via switches 27, 26, 25 prevents the flash firing when contact 32 is closed. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the photo-sensor 14 can be manually switched out to enable flash to be used in daylight conditions.</p> |
