1522734 Motor vehicle drive lines NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 9 April 1976 [9 April 1975] 14514/76 Heading B7H A motor vehicle final drive unit includes a vibration damping coupling 36 which resiliently couples first and second drive shaft portions 18, 26 carrying a differential drive pinion 16 and a propeller shaft coupling flange 30 respectively, the coupling 36 being directly supported by a ball bearing 46 in an extension housing 24 attached to a main housing 12. The first drive shaft portion is supported in the main housing 12 by roller bearings 20, 22, and the second drive shaft portion 26 is supported in the extension housing 24 by a ball bearing 28. The vibration damping coupling 36 comprises an outer tubular member 38, inner tubular members 40, 42 in splined engagement with the first and second drive shaft portions 18, 26 respectively, and a rubber body 44 which is bonded to the tubular members 38, 40, 42 and has an inwardly extending portion 45 separating the ends of the inner tubular members 40, 42. The inner tubular members may have on their adjacent ends axially extending portions which interengage to limit relative twisting of the members to a predetermined maximum value. |
