PURPOSE:To eliminate the push back at the drawing of an ingot, simplify an installation and lower cost by disposing the pinch rolls in a specific position. CONSTITUTION:The disposing position l of the pinch rolls 7 is selected within the range V/K<2>(r/4)<2=l<=10. Here, l: the distance m from the inlet of a mold 4 to the center of the pinch rolls 7, r: the radius mm. in the case of an ingot of a circular section, and 1/2mm. of the thickness in the case of an ingot of a square section, V: the speed m/min for pulling of ingot, K: a solidification canstant mm./min<1/2>. By the satisfaction of such conditions, the pinch rolls 7 are disposed near the mold 4, and the contraction in a longitudinal direction caused in an ingot 6 between the mold 4 and the pinch rolls 7 is reduced to an extent of not hampering the drawing, whereby the need for push back is eliminated. Thereby, the ingot 6 is drawn easily and surely only by the intermittent drawing by the pinch rolls 7. |
