The invention relates to an arrangement which has at least one toothed lock washer for fitting on pedal cranks for bicycles or similar vehicles, which is characterised in that the toothed lock washer(s) (1<2>, 1<3>), with or without a chain guard (1<1>), is/are produced in a single operation in one piece from injection-moulded or cast plastic reinforced by glass fibres or carbon fibres and has/have at least one metallic device which can be adapted to the head of the right pedal crank in order to cooperate therewith. The metallic device is composed of a star-shaped insert (4) with five arms of which each has an opening (4<1>) which allows the insert to be set in an injection mould, the said openings then being set in centring pins and the said insert having a central opening (4<2>) which is provided with a circumferential toothing (4<3>) which cooperates with a complementary toothing provided on the head of the pedal crank. <IMAGE>
