PURPOSE:To enable irradiation of a thin slit-like laser beam only with a higher intensity thereof, by permitting the passing of a laser beam having several fringe patterns formed by a Mach-Zhender interference method through a slit. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 114 is branched into a passing laser beam 115 and reflected laser beam 116 with a beam splitter 102. The reflected laser beam 116 is reflected with mirrors 103 and 104 to make a laser beam 118. The passing laser beam 115 passes through a neutral filter 125 to make a laser beam 119. The laser beams 118 and 119 interfere with each other by a beam splitter 105 to create a laser beam 120 having several fringe patterns, which pass through a cylindrical lens 106 and a slit 107 and is turned to a laser beam having only one fringe pattern. This laser beam irradiates chromosome or cells flowing through a flow chamber 108 and develops an emission light 122 containing forward scattered light and fluorescence. |
