<p>Polymers contg. repeating units of formula H-(-(NH-Q-Y-P(x)(:z)-Y-Q-NH-Q'- CO)x(NH-Q"NHCO-Q'-CO)y-)n-OH (I) are new. X is a monovalent substituent gp., Y is a divalent linkage Z is a divalent substituent, Q, Q' and Q" are aromatic linkages which are the same or different, x is 1-5, y is o or 1-5 and n is 20-200: and if y is greater than 1, the repeating units NH-Q" NHCO-Q'-CO may be the same or different. The polymers have high stability at elevated temp.s, good flame reisitance and good strength properties, and are useful in the prodn. of fibres, films, membranes and shaped articles.</p> |
