<p>The assembly comprises a first flask contg. a therapeutic cpd. waiting to be dissolved and/or diluted by a solvent. A second flask contains the solvent. The two flasks are connected by a length of flexible tube which has a hollow needle at each end. One inserted through each of the plugs in the necks of each flask. The needle entering the first flask which contains the therapeutic compsn. has only a single passage. The other needle entering the solvent flask has two passages of which one connects the interior of the flask to the flexible tube. The other passage through the needle connects the flask interior to atmos. via a bacterial filter. Pref. the therapeutic compound is freeze-dried and is in a flask which is sealed under vacuum. Used for the prepn. of a therapeutic soln. for infusion to a patient, e.g. arginine oxoglutarate in glucose serum. The assembly makes the use of syringes to transfer solvent etc. unnecessary with the reduced number of handling operations there is less risk of contamination.</p> |
