Fuel economy indicator for motor vehicle - uses transducer collected data on engine speed, gear ratios, and throttle opening to signal fuel economic driving

Transducers take data (E) from the coil primary, from the gear selectors (Ib) and from the position of the accelerator pedal (Ip). Three light emitting diodes giving green (DV), a yellow (DJ), and red (DR) indication are driven by the logic circuit which processes the input data, and indicate to the driver whether best fuel economy is being obtained. The electronic circuit contains an input monostable multivibrator (M1) which receives the shaped (T1) ignition signal and generates a train of fixed width pulses whose length is compared to a preset pulse width generated by a second monostable (M2). If significant differences appear the warning light is illuminated.
