<p>Liq. tight joint between the butting ends of two concrete pipes having a constant outside diameter, includes a plastics sleeve spanning the joint. This sleeve is also enclosed by a much thinner sleeve inserted into a recess in the end of each pipe, with sealing rings between the thick and thin sleeves. The thick sleeve can have a constant outside dia. so that the sealing rings are retained in grooves around the insides of the two thin sleeves, due to the shape of the recesses inside the pipes. Alternatively, the thin sleeves are smooth, and the sealing rings are fitted into grooves around the thick sleeve. A number of alternative arrangements include a stepped formation of the pipe recesses, and the thick ring shaped accordingly to form grooves for the rings.</p> |
