The map has a multiplicity of map sheets, of which in each case a number n lie successively in one main direction, and of which those following directly on from one another in each case are connected to one another via the common edges to form a strip comprising the map sheets successively, a plurality of such strips, covering the area of the map successively, being connected to one another in the sequence given by the division of the map into strips. In order to allow rapid access in the map to the individual map sheets and to make them usable in a small space, provision is made for the strips to be arranged so that they follow on from one another in the main direction.
