<p>The coil is wound on a former or mould (2,3) and subsequently consolidated and insulated by resin casting. To provide a safe support for the winding wire terminals and assist with easier making off of the wire ends a strip of flexible insulation (1) is employed. At least one end of the strip has terminals (6) fitted to it. In the mould the ends of the strip are folded over at 90 degs. The centre part of the strip is waisted to give the same dimension as the coil inside dimension. The coil length is determined by the former shape (2). The support for the strip ends is arranged to allow a gap between the coil (4) and the terminals (6). On completion of the winding the wire ends can be easily and safely soldered to the terminals before the casting process is carried out.</p> |
